THE HEALED SISTER
What if I never find a job I actually like?
Mar 9, 2024
Salam beautiful,
I hope you’re well!
I wanted to share an insight I had in a group coaching session this week with you. One of the sisters opened up about the stress of not having had a single positive work experience in her life.
“I fear that I’m never going to find a job I like”, she confessed.
I smiled and took her through my method to eliminate limiting beliefs. That worked like a charm but I still shared this personal story with her:
It took me 10 years to find a job I love and that gives me purpose.
During those 10 years, I’ve been a house help, a sales assistant, a waitress, a call centre agent…
Drained and unsatisfied with employment, I gave entrepreneurship a try multiple times and with each attempt, came a failure that seemed to slap me harder and harder in the face.
First, I tried stitching and selling pillows that had a pocket at the front for remote controls to sit in (they were ugly). FAIL
Then I learned how to weave and became an instructor myself but wouldn’t make enough to survive and wasn’t passionate about it enough. FAIL
Then I tried being a Marketing Consultant but would always get paid late and hated being at the mercy of my clients and their pitch. FAIL AGAIN
And this isn’t even half of the list.
Looking back at those experiences, I have absolutely no regret because I see how each experience has taught me something that has led me to my purpose.
I want to share some key lessons I’ve got in this process with you:
You will achieve what you believe you deserve to achieve: for a long time I unconsciously thought I didn’t deserve to be happy and that I wasn’t capable of being a successful entrepreneur. That became my self-fulfilling prophecy until I worked on those limiting beliefs and got rid of them.
If failure is not an option, neither is success: you can’t learn without making mistakes. Don’t fear failure, welcome it with open arms, it has something powerful to teach you each time it happens.
Rest but never give up: when things get really tough and you feel like giving up on your goals, learn to rest, not to quit.
I hope this helps you reflect on the fact that it’s never too late to shift things around and find purpose, no matter where you are and what you’re struggling with right now.
Sending you strength and love habibty,
Soumaya
